Prince Andrew’s home at Royal Lodge is once again under royal spotlight and this time, it’s not just about his lease.

After stepping back from public life and giving up his Duke of York title, the disgraced royal has faced growing questions over how he can afford the sprawling Windsor estate.

Reports this week reveal that Andrew pays a symbolic “peppercorn” rent under a 75-year lease agreement with the Crown Estate. While he once received an allowance from the late Queen Elizabeth II, that support reportedly ended when King Charles took the throne.

Now, according to The Telegraph, Andrew suspects there’s another reason his brother wants him out of Royal Lodge.

Andrew allegedly believes King Charles hopes to reserve the property for Queen Camilla, should she outlive him. The theory becomes somewhat true the Queen Mother once lived at Royal Lodge after her daughter became monarch.

Andrew, as well as "Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, his daughters, have told friends that the King wants Royal Lodge to be the Queen’s base in Windsor should she outlive him," the report cites.

However, palace insiders have dismissed the claim. They insist that Queen Camilla prefers her own home, Ray Mill House in Wiltshire.

It’s said to be where she feels most comfortable, they added.
