Drew Barrymore recalls troubled teen life of going to rehab at 14
Drew Barrymore makes shocking confession about aftermath of going to rehab as a teenager
Drew Barrymore recently recalled her troubled teen life of going to a rehabilitation facility at the age of just 14 for nearly two years.
The 50-year-old actress had a conversation with Wayward actor Mae Martin on The Drew Barrymore Show on Friday, October 24.
During the show, Barrymore discussed with the actor, who also is the creator and co-writer of the Netflix series about the mystery series that follows a local police officer's investigation into a local school for troubled teens in an isolated small town.
While talking about it, the Big Miracle actress detailed her own time in rehab, sharing, "I also was someone who got taken away and put in a place for two years."
The A Castle for Christmas actress went on to say, "I had a lot of lightness in my experience in the institution.
"It's a lot of what this show is. I know that sounds wild, but it was like encouragement to say your truth, to be brave, to find humor and heroism in your journey.
"And it's the best thing that ever happened to me, honestly."
According to the Blended star, she holds a lot of that sacrosanct, but it wasn't easy and it was hard as hell.
For the unversed, Drew Barrymore's rehab journey began with her mother committing her to a lockdown facility at age 13 after years of substance abuse, starting around age 10.
