King Charles discusses ‘absolutely critical’ climate needs with Cate Blanchett
King Charles and the Hollywood star recently appeared on ‘Unearthed: The need for seeds’
King Charles made a rare appearance on Kew Gardens podcast, Unearthed: The need for seeds, on October 20.
His majesty joined actress Cate Blanchett and Dr Elinor Breman, Kew’s Senior Research Leader, for the 25th anniversary of the Millennium Seed Bank at Kew Gardens.
The official Instagram channel for the royal family promoted a sound byte from the recently released episode, in which the King can be heard discussing environment’s essential needs.
“I know how absolutely critical it all is, and the destruction of rainforests, the extinction of endless species, which have very likely remarkable properties, medical and everything else, without any concern,” the clip began with Charles’ voice.
While Blancett, who also serves as the Ambassador for Wakehurst, agreed with the monarch’s words, adding, “Yes, it’s sort of we understand the built world and the history, but we don’t think about the history contained within a seed.”
According to the Crown’s official website, “His Majesty has been Patron of Kew since 2016, and for more than five decades, has used his unique position to champion action for a sustainable future.”
It is also crucial to highlight that the Millennium Seed Bank, which was celebrated in the recent podcast episode, was officially inaugurated by King Charles in 2000.
