Queen Sirikit of Thailand leaves behind her son and three daughters
Marking an end of a remarkable royal era, Queen Sirikit of Thailand and mother of King Vajiralongkorn, has passed away at 93 years old.
According to the Thai Royal Household Bureau, the Queen died peacefully at 9:21p.m. local time on Friday, October 24, at a hospital in Bangkok.
Hospitalised since 2019, the Queen Mother with multiple health issues, including a recent blood infection, the Queen Mother remained absent from the public eye for nearly a decade.
She leaves behind her son and three daughters.
As per the statement shared with Hello! Magazine, by the palace, Her Majesty Queen SiriKit, the Queen Mother will lie in state from 4 p.m. tomorrow at the Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall in the Grand Palace.
"The body of Her Majesty Queen SiriKit, the Queen Mother, will be placed in lying-in-state tomorrow at 4 pm Thai time to Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall in the Grand Palace, where members of the Royal Family and government officials pay their respects," the statement said.
The Thai Palace also shared that the date of the royal cremation ceremony will be revealed soon by the Royal Household.
