Prince William reached his breaking point over Prince Andrew’s scandal
The turning point came during a phone call between a 'weary' King Charles and Prince Andrew
Prince William reportedly reached his breaking point with Prince Andrew before pushing the royal family to act, according to The Mirror.
Royal insiders told the outlet that while the Prince of Wales had always taken a firm stance toward his disgraced uncle, one particular incident made him “snap” and demand change.
The turning point came during a 10-minute phone call between a “weary” King Charles and Prince Andrew, which ultimately led Andrew to agree to permanently give up his royal titles and honours, the outlet adds.
Royal author Omid Scobie has claimed that both the late Queen Elizabeth II and now-King Charles viewed Andrew as something of a “blind spot,” leaving it to William to take the lead when the Duke of York faced a civil lawsuit in the U.S. from Virginia Giuffre in 2022.
That period reportedly marked William’s “snapping point.” Around the same time, 152 veterans from the Royal Navy, Marines, and Army published an open letter urging the Queen to remove Andrew’s twelve honorary military titles, writing that “were this any other senior military officer, it is inconceivable that he would still be in post.”
According to Scobie, this public outcry became the final proof that William was ready to act. While Queen Elizabeth was the public face of Andrew’s reckoning, Scobie wrote, “it was Prince William who set the wheels in motion.”
