There may never be another Men in Black movie starring Will Smith as the spin-off disappointed audiences and the original trilogy was notoriously hard to make.

Men in Black 3 was among the most expensive films ever, beginning production without a finished script.

Smith reportedly earned up to $100 million from his back-end deal, making future sequels too costly.

Now, thirteen years after release, the film is seeing new life on streaming. According to FlixPatrol, Men in Black 3 debuted on Paramount+ at ninth place on October 26, with the first two films Men in Black and Men in Black 2, also in the top 10.

Director Barry Sonnenfeld later admitted it "wasn’t the most responsible decision” to start filming without a complete script. With a rumoured $250 million budget, the project was a huge risk.

The story follows Agent J, played by Smith, travelling back to the 1960s to save a young Agent K, played by Josh Brolin and Tommy Lee Jones.

The movie earned over $620 million worldwide, becoming the trilogy’s biggest hit.

It holds a 67% score on Rotten Tomatoes, where critics say, “It isn’t exactly a persuasive argument for the continuation of the franchise but Men in Black III is better than its predecessor and manages to exceed expectations.”

Additionally, after the After Earth flopped, reports said Will Smith’s massive payday made future deals unlikely.

Still earned $30 million upfront for Apple’s Emancipation and has a comeback with Bad Boys: Ride or Die, which grossed $400 million worldwide.
