Queen Camilla leaves fans surprised with latest move ahead of major event
Queen Camilla makes special appearance
At the The Poppy Project in Coresham, Queen Camilla admired a breathtaking display of handcrafted poppies honouring the 80th Anniversary of the end of the Second World War.
Inspired by The Peacock Women’s Institute in Corsham, the initiative blossomed into a community wide collaboration, uniting local groups in a heartfelt celebration.
During the initial months of 2025, The Peacock Women’s Institute set an ambitious goal to create 10,000 knitted and crocheted poppies for the striking town display.
What started as a local effort, quickly got an overwhelming response with more than 30,000 poppies sent from across the UK and overseas, with the contribution coming from schools, youth groups, residential homes, and businesses in the area.
The 78-year-old Monarch stopped by Martingate Shopping Centre, where a special Poppy Shop had been opened to offer free knitting lessons as well as encourage participation from the community.
Camilla set an example for the community by taking part in a poppy workshop, and met those who contributed to the project, as well as observed the process behind each handcrafted flower.
