Frankie Muniz spills the tea on why he cut ties with Hilary Duff
Frankie Muniz and Hilary Duff haven't spoken for 21 years
Frankie Muniz recently spilled the tea on why he cut ties with Hilary Duff.
The Malcolm in the Middle actor, who has not spoken to the former Disney alum for over 20 years, in an interview with The Joe Vulpis Podcast, shared, “Hilary Duff was probably one of my first friends when I moved to LA.”
"We became really, really good friends," Muniz went on to say, adding, “We had a really great relationship for a long time. She asked me to do Lizzie McGuire, which I was like, 'Yeah!'"
Then, the 39-year-old actor revealed that he ended his friendship with the 38-year-old actress after working on the 2003 film titled Agent Cody Banks.
While citing Duff’s mother, Susan as the core reason, Muniz claimed that she went behind his back to get her daughter cast in the 2003 film, which drove a wedge between the two young actors.
The Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! actor recalled that after becoming close, the Younger actress asked him to make an appearance on her Disney show, Lizzie McGuire.
“I was on the set of ‘Lizzie McGuire,’ and I was in Hilary’s dressing room and her mom was there,” Muniz remembered, describing her mother “the epitome of a stage mom.”
The Big Fat Lia actor shared that Susan asked him what projects he had in the pipeline for that summer when Malcolm in the Middle would be on hiatus.
To which, he told her "I go, 'Oh, I'm filming this movie where I'm playing like a junior James Bond. It's called Agent Cody Banks.'
"And she's like, 'Is there a girl that could be Hilary, that would be good for Hilary?' And I was like, 'Yeah, but I dunno.'"
However, as per him when he returned to the set the next day, Duff’s mother excitedly told her that they’d be spending the summer together as her daughter is doing Cody Banks with him.
The Racing Stripes star called his agents to find out how the casting had happened without his input, saying, "Supposedly, calls were made, and they knew that Hilary and I were really close, and I was filming her show, so they just assumed it was fine. So needless to say, I wasn't thrilled about it.”

After starring in Agent Cody Banks together, Frankie Muniz and Hilary Duff haven't spoken again.
