Jamie Lee Curtis sparks backlash over 'accidental' Hollywood break
Jamie Lee Curtis set to star in horror film 'Sender'
Jamie Lee Curtis has somehow irked many after claiming that her big break in Hollywood was an "accident", despite being a "nepo" baby herself.
The 66-year-old actress told Radar Online in an interview this week, that she was someone with "no tangible abilities”.
"I was kind of a weirdo. I was this girl at 16, full of energy and personality. But I had no intelligence," the Oscar winner said, "You know, I wasn't an athlete, I wasn't in the plays. And I became an actor by accident."
The Freakier Friday star explained that her big break in showbiz came after a family friend in Beverly Hills recommended that she should audition for an episode of ABC's Nancy Drew Mysteries.
Curtis recalled that her friend sent her audition tape to Universal Studios, adding, "They called me the next day, and they offered me a contract. I dropped out of college and became an actor, bringing in $235 a week."
Her interview, however, was not welcomed by few critiques, as they decided to slam her for the way the The Last Showgirl performer downplayed the influence of her superstar parents.
One of the users decided to remind the veteran actress of being the daughter of famous parents by with a question, asking, "Is she trying to imply that she got where she is due to grit and determination? Why do they all forget they were just handed the game by their parents?”
For the unversed, Jamie Lee Curtis was born to famous A-list parents of Hollywood; Tony Curtis and Psycho star Janet Leigh.
