In a surprising move, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has revealed plans to fill Facebook, Instagram, and other Meta platforms with even more AI-generated content.
During Meta’s latest earnings call, Zuckerberg said the company will soon “add yet another huge corpus of content” to its recommendation systems as artificial intelligence (AI) makes it “easier than ever to create and remix” online posts.
“Social media has gone through two eras so far,” Zuckerberg explained. “The first was when everything came from friends and family, and the second was the rise of creators. Now, AI is shaping what comes next.”
He hinted that the company’s recommendation algorithms will play a bigger role in understanding and prioritising AI-generated material, showing users “the right content at the right time.”
Notably, Meta’s push into AI-driven content is already underway. The company recently launched “Vibes,” an experimental app featuring a feed of AI-generated videos and posts, a direct rival to OpenAI’s Sora.
Meta CFO Susan Li revealed that users have already created more than 20 billion images through the app.
“I think Vibes is just the beginning. AI will enable entirely new types of content — things that were never possible before,” Zuckerberg said.
For those unversed, Meta reported $51.24 billion in revenue this quarter, marking a 26% year-over-year increase.
