Kate and William triumph in court over invasive Royal kids’ report
Prince William and Kate Middleton celebrate major win
Prince William and Kate Middleton have emerged victorious in their legal battle against Paris Match magazine, after a French court ruled in their favour over serious privacy breaches.
The magazine had violated the Royal couple’s privacy by publishing paparazzi photos taken from long-range lenses during the family’s holiday in the Alps.
The ruling found the publication was guilty of breaching their image rights and right to privacy.
Ms Sandrine Gil, who heads the Nanterre Court's First Chamber, delivered a preliminary ruling in September that became official in October.
On April 26, 2025, the magazine released the intrusive and controversial content that gave an invasive glimpse into the Prince and Princess of Wales’ family’s private vacation.
Kate and William promptly took action by initiating summary proceedings on April 28, following the article’s release.
They opted for an expedited legal process, instead of traditional proceedings, which take up to twelve years in France, sometimes even more.
The case was heard by the Nanterre Court on June 19, with the judge’s interim ruling becoming final on October 14, 2025.
The court’s judgement confirmed that Paris Match has indeed unlawfully breached their privacy and image rights of William and Kate and their three children.
Paris Match was instructed by the court to issue a judicial notice recognising their breach of privacy and if they fail to do so, they will be obliged to pay a hefty fine of €10,000 for each issue until the notice appears.
