Prince Andrew ‘clings on’ to royal lodge despite pressure from palace

Prince Andrew is reportedly “determined to cling on” to his residence at the Royal Lodge, even as controversy surrounding his royal status deepens.

Following his recent announcement to relinquish his royal title and honours, the Duke of York now faces mounting pressure over his continued occupancy of the lavish Berkshire mansion.

According to Mirror, royal commentator Richard Eden cited a “highly informed source” who revealed that Andrew’s attachment to the property is deeply personal.

“His only identity comes from his status,” the insider said, adding that the disgraced royal’s sense of self is “linked to his continued hold of the Berkshire mansion.”

Eden further noted that only two things could compel Andrew to leave — what he described as “the stick or the carrot.” 

The source elaborated, “Money. You’ll need to pay him to go away... and pay him not to talk.”

The other factor, they revealed, would be “pressure on his children.” The insider warned, “If you want to make sure your daughters are OK and remain princesses, then you’d better go quietly.”

The palace remains silent as calls grow for Prince Andrew to step aside.
