Prince Harry may have traded royal life for California sunshine, but a new interview suggests the Duke of Sussex is still struggling to define what he actually does for a living, even to his own children.

Appearing on Hasan Minhaj’s Doesn’t Know podcast on October 29, the 41-year-old royal was left fumbling when asked what his kids, Archie, 6, and Lilibet, 4, think he does for work.

1. The question that left him speechless

During a game of “Royal Rapid Fire,” Minhaj innocently asked, “What do your kids think you do?” Harry froze, repeating the question back in disbelief.

After a long, awkward pause, he admitted, “That’s a good question,” clearly unprepared to explain his profession — or lack thereof.

2. The vague answer that raised eyebrows

When Minhaj pressed further, Harry offered only, “Um… they know that we help other people.” The comedian tried to clarify, asking what kind of “work” that involved, but Harry couldn’t elaborate.

The exchange left many wondering whether the prince himself knows what his job is anymore.

3. The kids who just want to say hello

Trying to lighten the moment, Harry shared that his children enjoy interrupting his work calls. “All they’re interested in is saying hi to the people on the call,” he said, adding, “They're fascinated to see other people. They love seeing familiar faces.”

While sweet, it also highlighted how little his young family seems to associate him with an actual job.

4. From royal duties to Hollywood dreams

Archie was born when Harry was still a working royal, traveling the world on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II. However, after the couple’s “half-in, half-out” proposal was rejected in 2020, Harry and Meghan relocated to Montecito.

Their new life included splashy media deals with Netflix and Spotify both of which fizzled after lackluster results.

5. Prince without a portfolio

Though Prince Harry remains involved with the Invictus Games and occasionally speaks on mental health, his charitable ventures have also faced setbacks.

Once a prince with purpose, Harry now faces the irony of being a public figure whose own kids can’t quite explain what “daddy does.”
