Andrew’s status in line of succession: Government has ‘no plans’ to remove former prince
Andrew Mountbatten Windsor remains in line to succeed British throne
Despite no longer being a prince, it is being reported that Andrew will remain in the royal line of succession.
Per The Telegraph, Keir Starmer’s government has so far declined to “change the law” which would ensure the disgraced royal’s formal removal from the throne’s inheritance.
While a spokesperson for 10 Downing Street revealed, “There are no plans to make legislative changes.”
“Obviously the provisions for MPs to put forward legislation are well established. Those would be decisions for MPs and Parliament,” it was further shared.
For the record, Andrew is currently eighth in line to inherit the throne and the British government’s perspective is that “it is so unlikely for Andrew to ever become king that the law does not need changing.”
Meanwhile, royal sources have also informed that Andrew will not leave Royal Lodge until after Christmas. It was recently announced that the former prince and duke move into one of the properties on the Sandringham estate.
