Dave Franco wants credit beyond being James Franco’s brother

Hollywood may be packed with celebrities who have been branded as “nepo-babies” by the internet, Dave Franco insists the label doesn’t apply to him.

The 40-year-old actor explained that no one was going to hire him just because he was James Franco’s younger brother, although he admitted that his elder brother helped him land an agent and break into Hollywood to start his career.

Talking to Bustle, on October 28, 2025, the Now You See Me star shared, "If I sucked, I would’ve disappeared very quickly," insinuating that his acting skills are what got him work.

He also shared that James is proud of his younger brother’s success, saying, "At this point, I think he’s excited just to see me trying new things and to see me grow.”

Dave Franco has a vast filmography, having started in productions like Together, 21 Jump Street, Nerve, Now You See Me 2, Bad Neighbours and most recently in the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s Regretting You.

He also stars in the third sequel to the crime thriller film series Now You See Me: Now You Don't, which is set to hit the theaters on November 14, 2025.
