Elon Musk has reignited his long-running feud with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, and this time over a Tesla Roadster refund.

The drama began when Altman posted screenshots of his Tesla Roadster reservation from 2018, revealing that after waiting more than seven years for delivery, he finally decided to cancel his order and request a refund of his $50,000 deposit.

However, Altman claimed he never heard back from Tesla, even sharing an email bounce-back message from a now-defunct company address.

Musk responded on X (formerly Twitter), accusing Altman of leaving out key details. “And you forgot to mention act 4, where this issue was fixed, and you received a refund within 24 hours. But that is in your nature,” Musk wrote, calling the OpenAI chief a liar.

For those unversed, the Tesla Roadster, first unveiled in 2017, was meant to enter production by 2020 but has faced multiple delays.

Musk recently hinted that the long-awaited electric supercar is “getting close” to a full prototype reveal, calling it an “unforgettable” unveiling, “whether it’s good or bad.”

However, this is not the first time Tesla CEO has accused his rival. Earlier, he accused Altman of “stealing a non-profit,” referencing OpenAI’s controversial shift from a non-profit to a public benefit corporation (PBC).

The two have been locked in lawsuits, with Musk claiming OpenAI betrayed its founding mission.
