Alexandra Daddario responds to fan casting as 'Wonder Woman'
Alexandra Daddario says she’d love to work with James Gunn but hasn’t seen the campaign
Alexandra Daddario has finally addressed the viral fan campaign calling for her to play Wonder Woman in James Gunn’s new DC Universe, admitting she’s both surprised and flattered by the idea.
During an interview with ScreenRant promoting her upcoming film I Wish You All The Best, Daddario said she wasn’t aware of the online buzz.
“I have to be honest, I haven't seen any of that” she said when asked about fan art showing her as Wonder Woman or Catwoman. “I'm flattered to hear that it's happening, but I haven't seen it.”
The 39-year-old actress added noting she’d love to collaborate with the actor, “Working with James Gunn would be amazing in any capacity but I wasn't aware that that was going on.”
Best known for Baywatch, The White Lotus, and Percy Jackson, Daddario has long been a fan favourite for superhero roles due to her striking looks and strong on-screen presence.
Recently, fans have flooded social media with AI renderings showing her in Wonder Woman’s iconic Amazonian armour, fuelling debate about who could replace Gal Gadot.
Gunn confirmed earlier this year that a Wonder Woman project is in active development as part of DCU’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, alongside the prequel series Paradise Lost and no casting has been announced as speculation continues.
Online reactions to Alexandra Daddario’s comments were divided, some praised her as a natural fit while others insisted “no one can replace Gal Gadot.” For now, her potential involvement remains fan-driven speculation.
