Jennifer Lawrence reflects on fame, burnout and changed perception
Lawrence will return to the big screen in Die My Love, hitting theatres November 7
Jennifer Lawrence is getting real about what fame felt like in her early 20s and how different life looks for her now.
In a new interview with The Interview, the Oscar-winning actress opened up about the whirlwind of success that came with Silver Linings Playbook, admitting that even at the height of her fame, she knew it wouldn’t last forever.
“When I was 23 and someone said, ‘Everybody loves you, what does it feel like?’ I remember thinking, ‘It feels precarious,’” Jennifer shared. “It’s going to come down. That’s just the nature of things.”
She also reflected on the moment that made headlines and how the public perception that followed took a toll. “Everybody kind of thought that meant everything I did was fake or a shtick. That’s how it felt to me,” she said.
After years of being in the spotlight, the X-Men star eventually decided to step back. “People needed a break from me, and I took a break and enjoyed the time,” Jennifer admitted, adding that she’d grown “sick” of interviews back then.
Now in her 30s and a mom, Lawrence says she sees her younger self through a gentler lens — less as the Hollywood phenomenon she became and more as a young woman figuring things out in real time.
