Mariah Carey kicks off holiday season with Billy Eichner in hilarious video

Mariah Carey has officially kicked off the 2025 holiday season with her much anticipated It’s Time video.

This year, the “Queen of Christmas” partnered with Sephora and welcomed a special guest, Billy Eichner, who appears as a mischievous elf.

At the stroke of midnight on Halloween, last Friday, Carey continued her annual tradition by posting the now iconic video across social media — marking the official start of Christmas celebrations.

The new version adds a fun twist, spotlighting her timeless 1994 hit, All I Want for Christmas Is You.

The video, which has already gained over 98.5 million views on TikTok, was captioned by Carey, “It’s Time!!!”. It opens with her dressed as an angel, declaring, “Halloween slayed! But now, it’s time,” as the familiar melody began.

When Carey notices her vanity in disorder and her Sephora bag missing, she catches the culprit, Eichner’s elf, who jokes about “elf revenge” and pawning her makeup for therapy.

After exchanging witty lines, Carey hits her iconic whistle note, transforming Eichner into a snowman and herself into a glamorous red Santa outfit.

She then climbs off in a sleigh, dropping Sephora gift bags down chimneys, signaling the start of the season, Mariah-style.

The tradition initially began six years ago, when the singer first announced the holidays at midnight on November 1, 2019.

Mariah Carey told Vanity Fair, “So me and the team sat down and decided, okay, we’ll make an ‘It’s time’ video to signal when it’s time. I love ‘It’s time.’ It’s so fun.”
