Prince William reveals real reason for bringing Earthshot Prize to Brazil
Prince William opens up about selecting Brazil for Earthshot Prize
Before boarding his flight, Prince William admitted he is thrilled to be taking a trip to Brazil for 2025’s Earthshot Prize ceremony.
The Future King is on a mission to find 50 climate saving solutions, in hopes of building a better future for his three children, 12-year-old Prince George, 10-year-old Princess Charlotte, and seven year old Prince Louis, whom he shares with his wife Kate Middleton.
Back in October 2020, the Prince had set the Earthshot Prize in motion to inspire and reward solutions that can help restore the planet within the next decade.
Taking to his Instagram stories, he shared, "As I depart for Rio de Janeiro, I am excited for my first visit and to experience Brazil’s vibrant culture, its extraordinary biodiversity, and above all, the warmth of its people."
"With the world’s eyes turning to Brazil this week, there is no better place to celebrate bold climate leadership. Hosting The Earthshot Prize allows us to not only recognise those driving change, but to be inspired by them. When we work together with optimism and courage, a more sustainable future is within our reach.”
The 43-year-old Prince of Wales also opened up about his fears regarding his children’s future.
While speaking to Hello! Magazine, William expressed, "As a father, I think constantly about the world my children will inherit. I want them to grow up surrounded by nature, opportunity and a sense of hope about the future.”
Continuing, "But I also know that unless we act boldly now, that future is at risk. The Earthshot Prize is about turning the tide, about proving to our children that we are willing to fight for their tomorrow."
His initiative is designed to spotlight 50 groundbreaking solutions to the world’s climate crisis, with the goal of creating a safer planet for children.
