AI artist Xania Monet becomes first to break into Billboard charts
Monet's track 'How Was I Supposed to Know?' has gained over 44 million U.S. streams
AI has officially entered the music charts.
According to Billboard, Xania Monet has become the first-ever AI artist to officially chart on the U.S. Billboard rankings, marking a new chapter in how technology and creativity collide.
Her breakout single, 'How Was I Supposed to Know?', debuted at No. 30 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart this week and also topped the R&B Digital Song Sales chart.
Since the track’s release, Monet has gained over 44 million U.S. streams, earning roughly $52,000 in just a few months.
Monet, described on Apple Music as a “contemporary R&B vocalist,” is powered by Mississippi poet and designer Telisha “Nikki” Jones.
Earlier this year, the AI artist made headlines after signing a multimillion-dollar deal with Hallwood Media, following a fierce bidding war between major record labels.
