Jennifer Lopez’s iconic Versace jungle dress revived by Amber Valletta at 51
Amber Valletta and Jennifer Lopez’s Versace connection steals the spotlight again
The iconic Versace “jungle” dress, famously worn by Jennifer Lopez at the 2000 Grammys, made a stunning comeback at the 2025 CFDA Awards, this time on supermodel Amber Valletta.
On Monday, November 3, Valletta turned heads as she arrived at the event to present Donatella Versace with the Positive Change Award, which, according to Vogue, honours the Italian designer for her “LGBTQ+ advocacy work and ongoing support of young talent.”
Vogue noted, “Naturally, Valletta, a longtime Versace muse, was bound to wear one of Donatella’s looks on the red carpet, but given that this is a fashion event, Valletta did not choose just any ol’ gown. Instead, she revived one of Versace’s most iconic designs ever.”
The publication added, “Yes, we are talking about the sexy, low-plunging, jungle-print sheer gown that Jennifer Lopez wore to the 2000 Grammys.”
However, while Lopez made the dress world-famous, Valleta was actually the first to wear it.
“Back in the spring 2000 fashion season, when the dress first appeared on the catwalk, Valletta opened the show and wore a short version of the style on the runway; so you could say the model actually wore it before J.Lo,” Vogue explained.
They concluded, “Her appearance at the 2025 CFDA Awards tonight served as an extremely-chic reminder that she did it first!”
The dress also made internet history, The Cut noted that Jennifer Lopez’s appearance in it was the reason Google Images was created after fans flooded the web searching for her iconic look.
