King Charles urged Prince William to be more responsible amid royal family’s health crisis
Royal author details significant moment between King Charles and Prince William
A royal author has shared claims that during King Charles and Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnoses and subsequently brief retirement from the public eye, Prince William was advised by his father to be more responsible towards his royal duties.
According to royal biographer Robert Jobson, the Prince of Wales wanted to scale back his public engagements during his wife’s illness, however the King told him to “think again” regarding the plan.
William had confided about that period of his life during an appearance on The Reluctant Traveler with Eugene Levy. He said, “You know, worry or stress around the family side of things that does overwhelm me quite a bit.”
However, the future monarch also admitted, “But in terms of, you know, doing the job and things like that, I don’t feel too overwhelmed by that.”
He had added that his family’s needs are what makes him feel “a bit overwhelmed” — “When it’s to do with family and things like that, then that’s where I start getting a bit overwhelmed – as I think most people would, because it’s more personal, it’s more about feeling, it’s more about upsetting the rhythm, if you like.”
Prince William had further declared that “2024 was the hardest year” he has ever experienced. That year, both King Charles and Kate Middleton were diagnosed with unspecified forms of cancer, which forced them to withdraw from public life for a good part of it.
