Reddit down globally as thousands of users report access issues
Reddit users were left frustrated after the platform went down in countries, including US
Reddit users across the globe were left frustrated after the popular social media platform went down in multiple countries, including the United States and India.
Thousands of Reddit users have flooded Downdetector, a site that tracks online outages, to report that the app had suddenly stopped working, showing endless loading screens and failed logins.
According to Downdetector, over 20,000 users in the US and more than 500 in India reported issues at the peak of the outage.
Notably, for many users, Reddit’s homepage wouldn’t load, while others complained they couldn’t access subreddits or post content.
However, the platform has quickly acknowledged the issue, confirming on its official status page that engineers had identified the cause and were rolling out a fix.
“The issue has been identified and a fix is being implemented,” the company wrote.
This disruption comes just weeks after a major Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage, which also took down several major platforms, including Reddit itself.
These repeated outages have sparked conversations about how heavily today’s biggest websites depend on shared cloud infrastructure, and how one small glitch can send the internet into trouble.
