Inside David Beckham’s powerful royal connections
The former England footballer is a self-proclaimed 'royalist'
David Beckham’s royal admiration has come full circle. The 48-year-old football legend, known for his lifelong respect for the British monarchy, received his knighthood from King Charles III at Windsor Castle on November 4.
Let’s discover David Beckham's relationship with the Royal family and how he earned the Knighthood title.
David Beckham's relationship with the Royal Family
Beckham’s relationship with the royal family runs deep, built on a long and storied history. From attending the weddings of Prince William and Kate Middleton, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, to supporting William’s environmental Earthshot Prize. The Beckhams have long been part of royal circles.
His wife Victoria’s designs have even graced the wardrobes of both the Princess of Wales and the Duchess of Edinburgh.
Furthermore, following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, Beckham famously queued for 13 hours to pay his respects at Westminster Hall, declining any offer to skip the line.
“I grew up in a royalist family,” he said at the time. “It was important to honour her legacy.”
Having met both the late Queen and the King on several occasions, Beckham’s elevation to knighthood cements a lifelong bond between one of Britain’s most admired public figures and the monarchy itself.

His words on receiving Knighthood
Speaking after the ceremony, Sir David said, “To be honest, a young boy from the East End of London, born in Leytonstone, and here at Windsor Castle, being honoured by his majesty the king, the most important and the most respected institution in the world – it’s quite a moment. This is without doubt my proudest moment.”
