Hollywood star praises Kate Middleton for her inspiring cancer journey
Olivia Munn hails Kate Middleton’s transparency about cancer diagnosis
Olivia Munn can’t help but admire Kate Middleton’s bravery and resilience.
Over a year after going public with her battle with breast cancer, the 45-year-old actress gave a heartfelt nod to Kate Middleton for openly sharing her cancer journey.
While chatting with E! News, on November 4, the Predator star shared that hearing the 43-year-old Princess of Wales’ speak so candidly about how challenging life after cancer treatment can be deeply resonated with her.
"What really meant a lot was to hear Princess Kate Middleton say how difficult the phase after cancer treatment is," she shared. "Because those of us going through it understand that this second part of the journey can be really difficult and exhausting."
Olivia, who shares two young children with husband John Mulaney, explained that cancer doesn’t simply end with treatment, but remains as a lifelong experience.
"Before the treatment, I knew there was like, 'OK, you have these five surgeries coming up, you've got these tests you have to do, you have this medicine you have to do,'" she stated.
"Then you get to a place, you're like, 'OK, I've done it all.' And they go, "Oh yeah, but now you have to do this for the next five years. And then for the rest of your life you have to do this and you have to abstain from this.'"
While going through her cancer journey, The Newsroom alum expressed that hearing Kate, who hasn’t disclosed her specific diagnosis, speak so honestly about the emotional toll cancer takes on a person was quite validating for her.
"When Princess Kate said that, she said something that I had been feeling but wasn't able to articulate even to myself," Olivia remarked.
"I had those same feelings, but I was just looking at it as one big journey. But she's right when she's like, there's this part and then there was the phase after that's really, really difficult. So I really, really appreciated her saying that."
