Blake Lively, Justin Baldoni's legal feud heats up as latter's lawyer fires back
Justin Baldoni's lawyer sets record straight on $400M lawsuit against Blake Lively
It Ends with Us costars, Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni's legal feud has taken a shocking turn after the latter's lawyer decided to speak out on the matter.
For the unversed, on Monday, November 3, Baldoni's $400 million countersuit against Lively was formally dismissed by a federal judge in New York after the actor and his company, Wayfarer Studios, missed a deadline to refile.
However, the Jane the Virgin actor is still able to appeal the judge's ruling.
Now, while explaining the reason why the 41-year-old actor failed to file a further amended complaint, his lawyer, Bryan Freedman in a statement via PEOPLE, blamed the media.
"The truth regarding this case continuously and completely gets distorted in the media," said Freedman, adding, “Even something as simple as a procedural update has resulted in a total mischaracterization.”
According to Freedman, no deadlines were missed. In the end, he noted, “Our clients chose not to amend their complaint to preserve appeal rights."
In the meantime, Baldoni’s legal team, as per the statement issued, are focusing on his costar’s claims.
The 38-year-old actress filed a lawsuit against her It Ends with Us costar in December 2024, claiming that he sexually harassed her.
The Five Feet Apart director counter sued his costar, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and New York Times alleging libel and false light invasion of privacy.
A trial over Blake Lively’s lawsuit against Justin Baldoni is set to take place in March 2026.
