Queen Elizabeth’s former chaplain Andrew Deuchar has come away with a relatively comfortable penalty for charges pertaining to child sex offences.

Deuchar was found guilty of sending “indecent images of himself and a video of a sexual nature” to who he thought was an underage boy, but was really an undercover member of an anti-paedophile vigilante group, per The Telegraph.

The group’s representatives raided Deuchar’s home in May, where they had a confrontation with the culprit, who reportedly said, “I made a mistake, I realise that.”

As for his sentence, the outlet stated, “Deuchar was given a two-year community payback order with supervision and made subject to the notification requirements of the Sexual Offences Act for a similar period.”

Notably, a community payback order is unpaid work which gives offenders an opportunity to do community services in exchange for harsher punishments and time in prison.

For the record, Andrew Deuchar used to work for Queen Elizabeth between 2004 and 2008. He had resigned from his position as a chaplain when he was accused of misbehaving and sexually harassing a female parishioner.
