Debra Messing sparks outrage after sharing controversial meme about Zohran Mamdani

Debra Messing is catching major heat after posting controversial content about Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani.

In a landmark result, Zohran won the New York City mayoral race on Tuesday night, securing 50.4% of votes, as per CBS News.

Andrew Cuomo, who was running as an independent candidate, won 41.6% of votes, while Republican Curtis Sliwa garnered 7%.

As voters made their way to the polls on November 4, the 57-year-old actress reposted a post from 'The Persian Jewess' on her official Instagram story.

The image displayed a fake ballot with two exaggerated options, one labelled "A Democrat. Just a Democrat," and the other described as "An actual communist jihadist. A literal Karl Marx-quoting, America-hating jihadist."

However, this was not met well online and many social media users quickly erupted with accusing the Will & Grace actress’s posts of promoting Islamophobia.

Many critics stormed X, formerly known as Twitter, saying, "The Debra Messing meltdown is in full swing. An embarrassing loser."

Another penned, "For some reason I punished myself by looking at Debra Messing’s Instagram and she has like 20 stories that are just Islamophobia."

“I think Zohran has actually broken her brain,” wrote a third.
