Justin Baldoni addresses major legal setback in Blake Lively lawsuit

Justin Baldoni is speaking out after his $400 million defamation countersuit against It Ends With Us co-star Blake Lively was officially dismissed.

As reported by Deadline, U.S. District Court Judge Lewis Liman closed the case after Baldoni and his legal team missed an October 2025 deadline to amend their original complaint which had already been dismissed once in June.

However, Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, pushed back on claims that his client missed any deadlines.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, November 4, Freedman said, “No deadlines were missed. Our clients chose not to amend their complaint to preserve appeal rights.”

“We are focusing on Ms. Lively’s claims. We remain fully committed to pursuing the truth through every legal and factual avenue available and look forward to our day in court,” he added.

The case has drawn intense attention since its filing, given both stars’ involvement in the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel It Ends With Us.
