‘American Idol’ contestant arrested over assault charges involving a minor

Former American Idol contestant Randy Madden, who appeared on Season 8 of the hit singing competition, has been arrested and charged with multiple felony counts related to alleged sexual misconduct involving a minor.

According to TMZ, Madden faces six felony charges, including sexual assault of a person under 18, sending harmful material, luring, and attempting to dissuade a witness from reporting a crime.

Court documents obtained by the outlet allege the incidents took place between July and September of this year, involving at least one sexual encounter. The victim’s exact age has not been revealed.

He was arrested by the authorities and taken into custody and later released on a $100,000 bond after pleading not guilty on Tuesday morning.

For the unversed, Madden appeared in American Idol’s Season 8 audition in 2009, where his rockstar demeanor made him a memorable contestant.
