Rockstar Games, the developer behind Grand Theft Auto (GTA) VI, has officially postponed the release of the highly anticipated title, setting a new release date of November 19, 2026.

The announcement was made on the company’s social media handles, where the developer expressed appreciation for the gaming community's continued enthusiasm and regret over the delay.

"We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realise has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve," the developer wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Notably, the news immediately triggered market shock as shares of Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive, fell more than 8% in after-hours trading.

The delay comes at a tense moment for the company. Just days earlier, Rockstar faced backlash after firing between 30 and 40 employees across its UK and Canada offices.

The Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain (IWGB) accused the developer of “the most blatant and ruthless act of union busting” the industry has seen.

However, the GTA VI developer denied the allegations, claiming that the employees were actually fired for leaking sensitive company information.

This also marks the second major delay for GTA VI. The game was originally slated for late 2025, then shifted to early 2026, and now pushed to late 2026, fueling concerns that internal disruptions may be impacting production.
