Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2025: Latest induction ceremony becomes girl power fest
Salt-N-Pepa, Olivia Rodrigo, Cyndi Lauper etc. grace the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
Music royalty and other celebrities have gathered today, November 9, to mark the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
With this year’s inductees being Cyndi Lauper, Salt-N-Pepa, Outkast, Soundgarden, The White Stripes, Bad Company, Chubby Checker, and Joe Cocker, the latest gala is a promising feast of another year celebrating the best in the business.
A singularly dazzling staple of the 2025 ceremony so far has been the influx of women rockers, setting the stage on fire with their fierce performances and attendance.
The Hip Hop group Salt-N-Pepa, being inducted tonight, delivered a rousing performance of some of their biggest hits and later hailed “every woman who picked up a mic when they told her she couldn’t” in their acceptance speech.
“The industry still doesn’t want to play fair, Salt-N-Pepa have never been afraid of a fight,” said Cheryl “Salt” James while accepting the honour as one of the evening’s inductees. While her fellow bandmate, Spinderella, became the first DJ to enter the hall of fame as a woman.
Furthermore, Olivia Rodrigo and Canadian singer-songwriter Feist came together to perform their rendition of The White Stripes hit, We’re Going to Be Friends.
Though the much anticipated reunion between the rock duo Jack White and Meg White did not come to fruition, with only the former in attendance at the festivities, Jack did acknowledge that his White Stripes bandmate and ex-wife helped him craft the acceptance speech for their induction.
In a visibly emotional speech, he went on to acknowledge that a partnership like the one he has shared with Meg, and by so many other pairs across the world and cultures, can be “the most beautiful thing you can have as an artist and musician.”
Meanwhile, Chappell Roan helped induct “lifelong inspiration” Cyndi Lauper at this year’s ceremony — recognising the singer’s most memorable hit, Girls Just Want to Have Fun, as “a global feminist anthem.”
Other famous faces in attendance at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2025 induction ceremony include Jim Carrey, Donald Glover, David Letterman, Taylor Momsen, Janelle Monáe, Stevie Wonder, among several others.
