King Charles appeared visibly moved as he led the royal family and national figures in a solemn Remembrance Sunday service at the Cenotaph in Whitehall on Nov. 9, 2025.

Dressed in full ceremonial uniform, the 76-year-old monarch laid the first wreath after the national two-minute silence. The crowd watched him with quiet respect.

He was joined by senior royals, the Prince and Princess of Wales, Queen Camilla, and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, who stood together on the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office balconies as leaders, veterans, and representatives of Britain’s armed forces paid tribute to the fallen.

Around 10,000 participants representing 341 armed forces and civilian associations took part in the service, including 20 Second World War veterans, some aged 101, and young members of the veteran-support charity Scotty’s Little Soldiers. Hello reported.

The youngest marcher, eight-year-old Evie Roots, represented children who have lost serving parents.

Moreover, Prince William returned from his Earthshot visit to Brazil, attended in Royal Air Force uniform at the rank of Wing Commander; Prince Edward wore the Royal Wessex Yeomanry uniform.

Queen Camilla and the Princess of Wales observed the silence from the centre balcony, Camilla wearing three poppies and Kate a single poppy.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer and other political leaders joined the wreath-laying, with Starmer reflecting on the nation’s duty to honour service and support veterans and their families.

The service was part of a broader year of remembrance, which included events for the 80th anniversaries of VE Day and VJ Day.

It highlighted the important role the monarchy continues to play in national moments of remembrance.
