Jimmy Kimmel’s wife speaks out on family rift over Trump support
'This is not just Republican versus Democrat for me anymore,' Molly says
Jimmy Kimmel’s wife, Molly McNearney, has revealed that political differences have deeply affected her family relationships.
Speaking on the We Can Do Hard Things podcast, the Jimmy Kimmel Live! executive producer shared that she’s lost connections with some relatives due to their support for Donald Trump.
McNearney, who grew up in a “very conservative, Republican” household in St. Louis, said her views shifted after moving away and meeting people from different backgrounds.
While she initially understood why some voted for Trump in 2016, she admitted it’s been much harder to accept their continued support.
“It hurts me so much because my husband is out there fighting this man,” she said. “To me, them voting for Trump is them not voting for my husband, me, or our family.”
“This is not just Republican versus Democrat for me anymore. It’s about family values,” she explained, expressing frustration over how current politics is affecting personal lives.
McNearney shares two children - Jane and Billy - with Kimmel.
