King Charles helped reopen channels with Trump: Zelenskyy

King Charles quietly helped restore communication between Ukraine and former U.S. president Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed in an interview with The Guardian.

According to Zelenskyy, King Charles played a discreet but “important” role behind the scenes following months of strained relations between Kyiv and Washington.

He said the king had sent “important signals” to Trump during the former president’s state visit to the UK in September.

“I don’t know all the details, but I understand His Majesty sent some important signals to President Trump,” Zelenskyy said, noting that Trump holds the king in high regard.

The move reportedly helped restore talks after an earlier confrontation between the two leaders in February, when Trump publicly criticised Zelenskyy during a meeting at the White House.

“His Majesty is very supportive of our people,” Zelenskyy added.

Zelenskyy said Trump considers the monarch “very important”, a compliment he doesn’t give to many.
