Arnold Schwarzenegger’s warning to Glen Powell before 'The Running Man' will shock you
'The Running Man' hits the cinemas on November 14
Glen Powell has played the most intense role of his career, and before hopping into the role, he received some serious advice and warnings from the legends.
The 37-year-old actor stars in the upcoming remake of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s iconic 1987 film, The Running Man.
He spoke exclusively with PEOPLE at the New York premiere about the “intense” physical and emotional demands of action stardom.
Powell revealed that Arnold, along with other friends in the action genre, warned him about the challenges of leading such a high-stakes film.
“Every single one of my buddies who have starred in action movies told me, ‘You don’t realize what you’re getting into. That’s gonna be intense,’” Powell said. “It’s very physical. It’s very emotional. It’s all those things.”
The actor also shared the behind-the-scenes excitement of connecting with the Terminator star, who gave the remake his blessing via FaceTime.
“Arnold lost his mind over it,” Powell said, recalling the legendary star’s enthusiasm. Schwarzenegger even described the film as the one he “always wanted to have redone.”
The movie, set in a dystopian near-future, follows Ben Richards (Powell), who must survive 30 days being hunted by professional assassins on a deadly televised competition to save his sick daughter.
Furthermore, Powell will also host Saturday Night Live on November 15, calling it a “surreal” moment in his career.
The Running Man hits the cinemas on November 14.
