'Stranger Things' star David Harbour secures role in true crime thriller

David Harbour is reportedly preparing to star in a thrilling new true crime movie centered on a notorious case.

The movie which is named Evil Genius will retell the case that became widely known through Netflix's 2018 true crime documentary of the same name.

The upcoming new project will be directed by Friends alum Courtney Cox and will star Patricia Arquette opposite the 50-year-old actor, known for playing Jim Hopper on Stranger Things.

As reported by Deadline, the 61-year-old actress will also take on the responsibiltiy of writing the screenplay, inspired by the acclaimed Barbara Schroeder and Trey Borzillieri documentary.

Based on the notorious “pizza bomber” case, the film examines the fine line between victim and perpetrator through the story of Brian Wells, a pizza delivery driver who is drawn into a bank robbery orchestrated by Marjorie Diehl-Armstrong.

The logline for the documentary reads: "This baffling true-crime story starts with the grisly death of a pizza man who robs a bank with a bomb around his neck, and gets weirder from there."

"I’ve been fascinated by Evil Genius since I first saw the documentary," Cox said in a statement.

Continuing, "It’s stranger than fiction. At moments darkly funny and yet deeply emotional. A story about love, loneliness, manipulation, and the people on the fringes who get pulled into something much bigger than themselves."

Joining the cast are Michael Chernus, Danielle Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Tom McCarthy, Gregory Alan Williams, Owen Teague, Ryan Eggold, and Harlow Jane.

As of right now there is no further update on the production of the project but David will be seen in the fifth and final season of the science fiction horror/mystery series Stranger Things, which will be released on the streaming giant on November 26 with the first four episodes, followed by three episodes on Christmas, and the finale episode on New Year's Eve.
