Florence Pugh opens up about her mixed experience with intimacy coordinators
Florence Pugh says intimacy coordination is ‘a job that’s still figuring itself out’
Florence Pugh is sharing her take on having intimacy coordinators around on sets, admitting that while she is “now having fantastic experiences with intimacy coordinators”, some unpleasant instances have also taken place.
Explaining the essence of the profession on The Louis Theroux Podcast, the Midsommar actress said, “It’s not to get in the way. It’s not to confuse, it’s not to make things more complicated or make things more awkward,” further adding, “I’ve had good ones and bad ones.”
Despite noting that she is “quite confident” on a film’s set, Pugh further acknowledged, “But my view is changing about it as well, because I’m now having fantastic experiences with intimacy coordinators.”
However, the Oscar nominated actress also detailed a “s*** experience” when an intimacy professional “made it so weird and so awkward and really wasn’t helpful and kind of was just like wanting to be a part of the set in a way that wasn’t helpful”. Following that experience, Pugh claimed, “I think it’s a job that’s still figuring itself out.”
Towards the end of her discussion on intimacy coordinators, Florence Pugh stated, “There are good ones and bad ones, and it’s through the good ones that I have learned how effective it can really be.”
