Prince William attempts to unite British youth on Armistice Day
Prince William is urging young people across the UK to ‘stop and reflect’
Prince William has recorded a poignant message for schoolchildren, between the ages of nine and 14, who are set to view the footage shortly on Armistice Day.
Observed nationally on November 11, the Prince of Wales’ message for the occasion states, “Armistice Day is an important time for us to stop and reflect; it is a reminder that Remembrance is for everyone.”
“When we remember, we connect with service in a personal way. We learn from the courage of others, and we carry their stories forward, so they are not forgotten. It’s not just about the past – it’s about shaping who we become in the future,” he further said. “Remembrance teaches us empathy, resilience, and responsibility.”
The future monarch also insisted on the importance of wearing a poppy, the memorial symbol for soldiers who have died in battle, as he adds in his message, “And when we wear a red poppy or take a moment of silence, we are saying, ‘Thank you. We have not forgotten and we will not forget.’”
“Coming together for Remembrance is a vital way to honour those whose service keeps us safe. Even today, as we continue to face a number of conflicts across the world, we honour those who have gone before us, and those who are serving now. Their memories matter, their lives matter, and they remind us to be respectful, kind, brave and thoughtful every day,” the detailed message concludes.
It has been reported that William’s Armistice Day message will additionally be broadcast during the Royal British Legion’s (RBL) Remembrance Assembly later today. According to The Telegraph, “The online event, presented by veteran and presenter JJ Chalmers, will also connect young people to Remembrance heritage through music, poetry, art and voices from across the Armed Forces community.”
Previously, Prince William returned to his country just in time for Remembrance Sunday, November 9. His latest engagements come after his significant environmental trip to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
