Sydney Sweeney, Zendaya break their friendship over political differences, source says
Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney’s fans have noticed an alleged growing distance between the co-stars
Hollywood stars Sydney Sweeney and Zendaya, once close friends after working together on Euphoria, are reportedly no longer on good terms due to their opposing political views.
According to insiders, tensions have risen between the two actresses, with Zendaya allegedly distancing herself from Sweeney following her controversial American Eagle jeans ad and her open support for Donald Trump’s administration.
As reported by The Daily Mail, Zendaya has refused to appear on stage with Sweeney during the promotional tour for Euphoria’s upcoming third season.
An insider explained, “It’s no wonder she’s refusing to do it. It’s a difficult position for Zendaya to be in because if she even stands next to Sydney on the red carpet, it can be read as her excusing Sydney’s views on Trump and her refusal to apologise for the racist ad.”
The controversy began when the Immaculate star defended her American Eagle campaign, which featured the tagline, “I have good jeans and good genes.”
Many interpreted it as racially insensitive. Addressing the backlash, the Anyone But You star said, “I’m way more aware about things than people think. The ad spoke for itself. I did a jean ad. The reaction was a surprise. When I have an issue, I want to speak about, people will hear.”
While Sydney Sweeney’s conservative stance reportedly expanded the gap between her and Zendaya, neither actress has publicly addressed the rumored fallout.
For now, the once-strong friendship between the Euphoria co-stars seems to be on shaky ground.
