Prince Harry’s legal battle against British press in trouble after losing key witness
Important witness in Prince Harry’s case withdraws over ‘completely false’ testimony
Prince Harry’s lawsuit against Associated Newspapers Limited is facing “potentially jeopardising” concern.
The case, also filed by other high profile figures like Elton John and Sadie Frost, has lost a key witness — Private investigator Gavin Burrows.
According to GB News, the PI “now asserts that a crucial witness statement from August 2021 was fabricated without his involvement and bears a forged signature.”
Burrows had allegedly confessed to working on behalf of the Mail group, with the GB further reporting, “The document in question allegedly contained admissions that Mr. Burrows had engaged in widespread illegal surveillance activities, including phone hacking and vehicle bugging, targeting numerous individuals.”
In Burrows’ revised statement, recorded September 25 and released by the high court on November 11, the previous witness refuted any claims about carrying out any illegal engagements on behalf of the UK media group.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry and other celebrity claimants’ case against Associated Newspapers will go to trial in January 2026.
