Sydney Sweeney's performance in ‘Christy’ hailed as 'Oscar’ worthy

Sydney Sweeney's performance in biographical sports drama movie Christy has been hailed as Oscar worthy by Lauren Sánchez Bezos.

The journalist and wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos took to Instagram Story on Wednesday, November 12, and praised acting of the 28-year-old actress, who stars as boxer Christy Martin in the newly released movie.

While sharing the photo of the film on a screen, Bezos wrote, "Just watched @sydney_sweeney in @christy.movie. I have to say it's one of the most powerful movies I have ever seen. Oscar worthy performance by Sydney."

Her post praising the Anyone But You actress comes two days after Ruby Rose called out Sweeney a “cretin”.

Rose posted scathing comments on Threads about the Euphoria star “ruined the film” and also suggested Sweeney was inauthentic for the role.

For the unversed, Ruby Rose was initially attached to play the role of Cherry, a high school girlfriend of Sydney Sweeney’s character, Christy Martin, however, ultimately took on the lead role.

The Taurus actress has since publicly criticised the The Housemaid star for the movie's poor box office performance.
