King Charles ‘will approve’ of Meghan Markle’s Veterans Day message: Former staffer claims
Meghan Markle followed up backlash from lack of poppy with Veterans Day post
Meghan Markle recently came under fire for not sporting a poppy alongside Prince Harry, when the duo attended Kris Jenner’s birthday party on November 8.
Following the backlash, the Duchess of Sussex marked the American Veterans Day with a footage of her husband’s military days, who had marked the British Day of Remembrance with a loyal display by pinning a poppy to his tuxedo last week.
Now, one of King Charles’ former employees has opened up about how he and the royal family may view the Duchess’ latest controversy — by likely not viewing it as one to begin with, according to Grant Harrold, the King’s former butler.
“It’s a very powerful video, and a very emotive post. It’s definitely showing Meghan’s move to a more ‘celebrity’ approach to social media, sharing the video she wants and feels are important on key days,” Harrold told The Mirror. “It’s a really nice post. I don’t think the Royal Family will feel badly about it at all, I think they will approve it.”
Noting that Veterans Day is “America’s version of Remembrance Day”, the ex-royal staffer further claimed that since the King “was extremely proud of his son serving in Afghanistan”, he would likely appreciate “Meghan acknowledging and respecting this.”
For the record, Meghan Markle’s Instagram post in question was shared on November 11.
“As my husband says, ‘Once served. Always serving.’ Thank you to all who served, sacrificed, and continue to serve. Honoring you on Veterans Day. And every day,” she captioned the post, which also featured a slide of Prince Harry spending time with an aged war veteran.
