Ariana Grande escapes scary fan interaction thanks to Cynthia Erivo’s quick action

In a shocking turn of events, Thursday’s Singapore premiere of Wicked: For Good took a tense turn as Ariana Grande was aggressively confronted by an overzealous fan.

Footage from several angles showed the 32-year-old singer and actress, who stars as Glinda in the highly anticipated musical, walking the yellow brick road carpet at Universal Studios Singapore alongside Michelle Yeoh, Cynthia Erivo, and Jeff Goldblum, when a man dressed in a white shirt and shorts suddenly sprinted towards her, and grabbed her.

The man sporting long black hair with blue streaks, put his arms around the Supernatural hitmaker pulling her close as she struggled to break free.

Cynthia, who took on the role of Elphaba, quickly jumped into action to protect her co-star and stepped in between Ariana and the man, seemingly shouting at him to stop.

Security also rushed to the scene to move the man away from the actress.

However, the clips showed Ariana visibly shaken by the entire ordeal as the 38-year-old actress and Michelle comforted her.

Fans were also quick to react to the incident, with one user commenting under a video, saying, "Cynthia protecting Ariana better than security is."

Annother penned, "Cynthia realized what was happening and immediately said “NOT TODAY!” I hope Ariana is ok."

"Cynthia wasn’t messing around! That’s the friend I want around," a third wrote.

A fourth supporter acknowledged Ariana’s frightened feelings, saying, "She’s so scared."
