Chadwick Boseman’s legacy honoured with Hollywood Walk of Fame star
The 'Black Panther' star died from colon cancer in 2020 at the age of 43
Chadwick Boseman is set to receive a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on November 20, five years after the actor’s shocking death from colon cancer.
The dedication will be located at 6904 Hollywood Blvd, according to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and will celebrate his career defined by performances and a powerful cultural legacy.
The ceremony will feature remarks from director Ryan Coogler, who helmed Black Panther, and Viola Davis, Boseman’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom co-star, as per Billboard.
His widow, Simone Ledward-Boseman, is expected to accept the honour on his behalf.
"The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is deeply honoured to celebrate Chadwick Boseman’s extraordinary legacy with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” Ana Martinez, Hollywood Walk of Fame producer, said in a statement, as reported by Billboard.
“His powerful performances and enduring impact both on and off screen continue to inspire generations around the world.”
The 21 Bridges actor, who died at 43 in 2020, earned widespread acclaim for portraying real-life Black icons from Jackie Robinson in 42 to James Brown in Get On Up and Thurgood Marshall in Marshall.
The Walk of Fame ceremony will be livestreamed on WalkOfFame.com.
