Shakira returns as Gazelle with vibrant new music video for ‘Zootopia 2’

Shakira is set to return as the pop star Gazelle in Disney’s Zootopia 2. The colorful music video for her new original song for the film, Zoo, premiered on Wednesday, November 12.

In the three minute clip as the Colombian singer transforms into her character, appearing in several Gazelle inspired outfits.

She also shares scenes with other animated characters, including Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin), Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman), Gary De’Snake (Ke Huy Quan), and Nibbles Maplestick (Fortune Feimster).

The video, which mixes the Hips Don’t Lie hitmaker’s live performance with footage from the movie, was directed by Hannah Lux Davis.

It features various locations from the film, such as the Zootopia Gala celebrating the 100th anniversary of the city’s climate walls, the Zootopia Express and a scene on a steep cliff that Shakira climbs alongside Judy and Nick.

Zoo was written by Ed Sheeran, Blake Slatkin, and Shakira, was released in October. It follows Shakira’s previous Zootopia song, Try Everything (2016).

The new song will also be available as a collectible 7″ purple vinyl record as the Zootopia 2 is set to hit theaters on Wednesday, November 26.

Earlier this month, the Waka Waka singer received the inaugural Billboard Global Touring Icon Award for her historic Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, the highest grossing Latin tour by a female artist and the second highest-grossing Latin tour of all time.

Speaking about the honour, Shakira said, “It’s encouraging and inspiring and it’s incredible and motivating at the same time. I feel like I’m just starting my career and it’s crazy because it’s been 30 years.”
