King Charles celebrates major milestone in special way
King Charles was in high spirits on his 77th birthday as marked the occasion with an outing in South Wales alongside wife Queen Camila.
To celebrate the milestone, the Royal couple are spending time with locals at Cyfarthfa Castle near Merthyr Tydfil.
The 77-year-old Monarch officially opened South Wales Metro Depot in Taff's Well, which is the central hub of the South Wales Metro Project.
Prior to greeting Transport for Wales staff, the King climbed into the driver’s seat and took a tram-train for a short trip.
After receiving a warm welcome from the First Minister of Wales, Charles stepped foot into one of the newly introduced tram-trains.
He had boarded the vehicle officially named Myddfai, which is a nod to a small Carmarthenshire village near the monarch's former Welsh Home.
With more than £1billion invested into the project, the initiative stands as one of Wales’ largest transport projects in decades.
Before posing for a group photo with Transport for Wales staff, Charles was also seen the the depot's facilities.
