Jennifer Lawrence gets real about pre-release fear and criticism
The ‘No Hard Feelings’ actress reveals emotional struggle with audience response to films
Jennifer Lawrence recently shared the emotional process that comes with releasing a movie.
During a conversation with V Magazine, the 35-year-old actress revealed that the months leading up to a film’s release make her anxious because she can never predict how the audience is going to perceive it, regardless of the immense hard work.
“The experience only adds to the dread, because I’ve had so many experiences of working so hard on something, loving something so deeply, and then releasing it to the world, and the world just being like, ‘Boo! Hate you!’ It is so awful,” Lawrence stated.
She admitted that whenever she starts a new project, she tends to forget that the public will inevitably judge.
The Silver Linings Playbook actress added, “I mean, I’m very blessed and very lucky. But it’s a very scary few months.”
She also shared how shocking this is for her husband, who doesn't come from the same industry as hers.
Lawrence recounted telling him about her anxiety before the movie’s release, only for him to reassure her that the film was great.
“People might not get it,” she said, remembering his response, “But they’re wrong.”
This interview comes after Jennifer Lawrence promotes her new film, Die My Love, alongside Robert Pattinson, which was released on November 7, 2025.
