The Beatles biopics face major obstacle amid production
‘The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event’ is set to be released in 2028
The Beatles' new biopics have been struck with a major disappointment.
According to a report from The Sun, the filmmakers of The Beatles — A Four-Film Cinematic Event has been banned from shooting at the historic Abbey Road.
For those unversed, the landmark is widely considered to be iconic, as The Beatles recorded much of their music there.
Moreover, their 1969 album, Abbey Road, is named after the studio and street, and is considered one of their remarkable works.
Additionally, the photograph of the band walking across the zebra crossing outside the studio became one of the most recognisable album covers in history.
Now that production is underway, sources claim that the crew cannot film on the street.
Sam Mendes, director of the project, envisioned recreating The Beatles' famous album cover on the crossing.
A source told the outlet, “It's believed they turned down the request on the basis that they'd have to shut down the road for filming to take place safely.”
“That would be magnified by having dozens of cast and crew present to do the same thing for the movie,” an insider shared.
In response to this setback, the producers are now considering removing the scene, as they really “don't want to rely on CGI because that would not look authentic.”
It is worth noting that Paul Mescal will play Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson will play John Lennon, Barry Keoghan will star as Ringo Starr and Joseph Quinn will play George Harrison in the films about The Fab Four.
The four Beatles biopics are scheduled to be released in April 2028.
